Honeymoon in Nepal

For our honeymoon we decided to visit Nepal and do a trek to Everest Base Camp. We spent 3 days in Hong Kong and then 3 days in Kathmandu before we flew to Lukla where we started the trek.
Our trip itinerary was for 14 days. We trekked from Lukla to Namche Bazaar with a group of 10 American women (the most amazing, friendly and inspiring women!). From there, we split from them and we headed up the Gokyo valley to Gokyo (a village). We hiked up to the top of Gokyo Ri (5500m) to watch the sunrise over Everest. We then had to cross the Cho La Pass (5400m), which is a high mountain pass, to get to the Khumbu Valley which is the Mt. Everest side. Two days after that we were standing at Mt. Everest Base Camp (5300m)!

The entire trip was an adventure. It was trying physically and mentally. This was not the most romantic of trips but we were put in situations where we had to rely on each other for support and encouragement - just like a marriage ;)

Our trip was a great success and we can't wait to return!

Cypress Peak

Libby, Bill, Tom & I decided to head back out for another peak attempt and this time - we made it!
It was definitely a scramble through huge boulders the entire way up, including a small section where some rock climbing skills came in handy. All in all a great day in the mountains!
