Labour Day Weekend on the Sunshine CoastWe went on a little roadtrip to the Sunshine Coast with our friends Ariel, Sarah, Katie and Nathan. We drove all the way up to Lund and spent some time kayaking the tip of Desolation Sound, which is THE place to kayak in Canada. We saw tons of starfish and at one point there were jellyfish everywhere! Katie had brought along her trusty net and caught the jellyfish! It turns out they're hard and not jelly like. Late on Sunday night we went for a walk to the ocean and the ocean was completely lite up! We were all in complete awe and completely freaked out by our discovery of the glowing fish. After Katie took out her net and tried to catch the fish is when we discovered that it wasn't the fish that were glowing, it was the water - it was phytoplankton! Check out our PICTURES.
August Long Weekend - Needle PeakWith the rock slide on the Sea-to-Sky Highway our plans of going North for a hike were over. It turned out that it was a great thing because we discovered a whole new area of scrambling! We went to Needle Peak which is located along the Coquihala Hwy about 2hrs East of Vancouver. The scramble was amazing and I accomplished my first chimney! I was really nervous and scared but exciting. It was a great day hike and we made it to the summit just in time for lunch.

Boating and Fishing attempt #2We went boating with a bunch of our friends and once again our goal was to catch a salmon for a nice bbq dinner. Unfortunately they ran out of fishing equipment so it was only boating, oh well! We had an awesome day of boating, swimming and tanning! We still had a great bbq dinner...with purchased salmon. Locomotive Mountain
Our second summer summit was Locomotive Mountain, which is just North of Pemberton. We hiked up Saturday afternoon and setup camp for the night just below Locomotive Mountain. Sunday morning we woke up early and hiked/scrambled up the snowy mountain and made at the peak just in time for lunch. It was a tough ascent but completely worth it! On the way down our crampons and ice axes came proved to be worth every penny. I had a moment where I slipped on a steep (but not too long) slope and the axe saved me from slipping all the way down! Tom also had a few slippery moments but we both made it without any cuts or bruises = success!Check out our PICTURES and GPS map.
The day we got lost in the woods - Tricouni Peak Tom and I went up for a hike with our friends Bill and Libby. Our goal was to summit Tricouni Peak. Unfortunately in less than 30mins we were lost! Tom pulled out the trusty GPS and announced that all we had to do was continue in our direction as it longed the river that went to the lake we were headed to anyway. Well that didn't work out at all! The hike that was suppose to take us about 2 hrs took us 5hrs and we only got to the lake. It was definitely an adventure in the woods! We all came out with an average of 25 mosquito bites per arm and a few cuts from scraggly trees. Check out our PICTURES.
Boating & Fishing attempt #1Tom and I went up to Horseshoe Bay with our friend, Chris, and rented a boat complete with salmon fishing equipment. Our goal: a day on the ocean and to catch a salmon for our planned bbq that night. What actually happened: a super day on the ocean and no salmon... We had an incident with our downrigger (part of the fishing equipment). Once Chris and Tom were done attaching the weight to the end of the line, they let the weight drop in the ocean however the line wasn't attached to the downrigger like it was suppose to be. We were down to 1 downrigger and a regular fishing rod (not for salmon). Needless to say that just didn't cut it. Oh well it was still a great adventure! See our PICTURES.
April Weekend in VictoriaOn early Saturday morning we boarded the Ferry over to Vancouver Island. When we left Vancouver it was colder than average but when we got off the ferry...it was a winter wonderland! We really know how to pick our weekends! Oh well, c'est la vie. We visited the historic sites of downtown, the inner harbour, Parliament, the Royal BC Museum, Craigdarroch Castle and Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site. Take a look at our PICTURES.
Updating...We know, we know - we're way behind with our blog. We're currently updating so keep checking in the next few days for all our summer pics and adventure updates.
